2020 and beyond...
Like many people, I found the extra time a hidden blessing to get lots of composing and recording done. I finished 2 musicals, América Tropical and The Path to Catherine. I can't wait to get them both on their feet and in front of audiences in 2021.
A couple of awards came my way: I received the LA Scenie Award for Best Musical Director of 2019-2020 for my work with Musical Fools, Barnum and Heathers. Also América Tropical was chosen as the 2020 winner of the 'Raise Your Voice' competition, receiving a cash award and a produced reading by McCoy-Rigby Productions in 2021.
And finally, I will join the staff of University Christian Church in Culver City as Co-Worship Arts Director and Events Director, starting January, 2021. I am excited to get to return to my 'worship roots', and to join a vibrant church community after a year of lockdown.
Is it possible to put up a show like Heathers in 2 weeks? Apparently it is, and Studio C Theater Company accomplished it in January of 2020. I loved every minute of playing that show. Next up was Shrek at Calabasas High. That show closed on March 8... just in time. Archer school wasn't as lucky. We were in the middle of rehearsals for Matilda when it all shut down.
Fall of 2019
Rehearsals begin for Musical Fools, which open in November at the Atwater Village Theater. This hilarious and precious show was such a fun ride from beginning to end. Shows were extended into January of 2020. In the meantime, I music directed 3 other shows: Barnum for Music Theater Guild, The Addams Family at Archer School for Girls, as well as a show at AMDA honoring women composers. A busy time!
Spring of 2019
Having a great time vocal directing Chicago at Calabasas High School and simultaneously music directing School of Rock at the Archer School for Girls. Squeezing in a week in the pit band for Vistamar's production of Mama Mia, too. Yes, there are enough hours in the day if you schedule it right!

Back to New York to record City of Light again, this time with our new cast members, and all the dialog, too. We have been chosen as the featured musical for a March release of The Micro-Musical Podcast Show. So excited!
I've joined the wonderful community at AMDA (The American Musical and Dramatic Academy) as a faculty accompanist.

My musical, City of Light, had a very successful concert reading performance at Feinstein's 54 Below in the heart of New York City's Theatre District. An amazingly talented cast pulled it off with not a lot of rehearsal (why is that always the case?!). Hats off to all of them, including Krystina Alabado (Mean Girls) as Molly, Keri Safran as Juliette, Anthony Norman (The Prom), and Jane Blass (Annie) as Madame Courcelles.

And now I'm jumping in to the whirlwind production schedule for Merrily We Roll Along, produced by 4Leaf Productions, which will open at the Colony Theatre in Burbank on August 16. So far, the cast is killing it!
July 20-22, 2018
Working with the very talented cast and crew over at Calabasas High School on their summer production of Thirteen. Wish I could have had this kind of theater and band department back in the day. So proud of the students!
June 14-15, 2018
Recording the new songs from Jerusalem A.D. at Big City Recording in Granada Hills with the amazing Paul Tavenner.
June 1-17, 2018
I'm music directing Next to Normal for Panic Productions at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts in Thousand Oaks. What an amazing cast, crew and band. This has been a wonderful experience from beginning to end.
March 30, 2018
The concert reading of my musical, Jerusalem A.D. was an amazing night, with over 500 people in attendance for the 2 performances. Plus it was a wonderful reunion of dear friends who participated and came out to support us. My co-creator, Brent Martz, and I are planning next steps to produce this show as it was originally created to be. Stay tuned!
January 15, 2018
Ok, it's official... Jerusalem A.D. is coming out of hibernation. We will be presenting a concert reading of this rock opera on March 30 (Good Friday) at 7:30 p.m. at Church for the Nations in Glendale. Casting is underway! I'm so excited!!!!

Whew... this was quite the project, but we're very proud of how it all came out!
deLEARious opens at the Atwater Village Theatre and we have been extended all the way to January 27, 2018! I not only music direct this wonderful work, but I even play 2 characters in this rollicking roller coaster of a show.

Music directing Sugar for the Musical Theatre Guild at the Alex Theater was a ton of fun! I loved my all girls jazz band!

I just got back from an intense 4 days of recording the entire City of Light score in New York with our lovely cast and a rhythm section. It was a huge job, getting 18 songs recorded in that short time frame! More overdubs and mixing to be done back in L.A. I'll be posting tracks soon!
